Ever get that feeling?
You let the air out before you even realize you were holding your breath.
Quiet fear that gripped you with so much strength that it stole your ability to-
In and out and in and out.
Numbing pain that allowed you to do everything and nothing important.
Never, ever jump into the water.
You've already drowned.
Exhale.
Inevitability of a process.
Of a start, a stop,
Order for everyone.
Unique to you and your rhythm.
Bits of the air horrible.
Sharp.
Full of pressure on other body parts.
Keep going.
In and out.
.
Just like that, you're breathing.
Shoulders, chest, stomach.
You're breathing,
and you're living,
and you're alive.
And that's wonderful.
